MN: From Isco and Van De Beek to Ceballos and Gomez – who could replace Calhanoglu

AC Milan must now move into gear and secure Hakan Calhanoglu’s replacement given that he is all set to sign for Inter, with several options touted.

MilanNews writes that the type of operation will be as follows: either a signing at low cost or a loan operation with an option to buy, like the deal which say Fikayo Tomori arrive from Chelsea. The project involves a mix between young players and experienced players, and that is why neither can be discounted in the pursuit of a new attacking midfielder.

Isco, Papu Gomez and Josip Ilicic are mentioned as potential experienced options. The former seems ready to leave Real Madrid because of the fact his contract is expiring in 2022, while Papu has a great desire to return to Italy from Sevilla and Ilicic does not seem to have a good relationship with Gasperini so should depart from Atalanta.

In terms of younger profiles it seems as though Donny van De Beek, Dani Ceballos and Hakim Ziyech could be opportunities for the Rossoneri. The Moroccan playmaker is a name that has been repeatedly linked in recent weeks, and a Tomori-esque formula is possible.

The three names mentioned align with the diktats of the Rossoneri project as they are talented young people, used to big stages and with significant growth margins.
