Mike Maignan did not in fact injure his wrist when stamped on by Luis Suarez in the defeat to Atletico Madrid, a report has revealed.
Milan will be without Maignan for 10 weeks after he had an arthroscopy on his left wrist yesterday, which means the 25-year-old will have to observe a six-week rest period and then rehabilitation will begin with a view to getting back on the field as soon as possible.
The latest MilanNews podcast provides a chronological reconstruction of Maignan’s injury to try and quash the various false rumours that are going around. They believe that the first problems began during the 3-2 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield when he saved Mo Salah’s penalty.
What proves this is that Ciprian Tatarusanu warmed up, but he never entered as the Frenchman played through the pain. Maignan was then in doubt for the match against Juventus as he experienced further pain right up until a few minutes before kick-off, but the former Lille man took the field in Turin and played a great match.
However, upon returning from France where he was with the national time it was revealed that the pain was still present in his wrist, and then it was decided to intervene via an arthroscopy.
