MN: From ‘the boss’ to ‘not a one man show’ – Ibrahimovic decides to change his words

There was a quite noticeable U-turn in the words used before the derby against Inter compared to a few days prior when he joked ahead of the Liverpool game.

MilanNews write how it could well be true that not everyone understood Ibrahimovic’s light-hearted approach, but the impression is that even the Swede learned the lesson regarding how to communicate during a moment where the fans expect honesty and clarity.

The pre-derby statements can at least be classified as a step backwards for someone who – despite claiming to be the ‘boss of everything’ a few nights prior – is learning on the job as a Senior Advisor to RedBird Capital and AC Milan.

His absence in the match against Lazio and up until the eve of the match against Liverpool generated headlines, as did his spat with Boban regarding what his role is, and then rumours even emerged suggesting he is not on good terms with the management.

Before the Inter game, he chose more careful words: “The important thing is the team and Milan, not me… It’s not a one man show.” He went from talking about lions and kittens to more humility and transparency, which was a positive step.

Ahead of a derby Ibra as the footballer would be able to go on the field and justify his character in some way but behind the desk the situation is different and he is in some ways at the mercy of the results. He is learning, and the three points against the Nerazzurri certainly helps calm things.

  1. Damage control. he should keep being a lion without communication skills and see how far he will go. a little sprinkle of humility will do him no harm.

  2. This whole article is based on a sentence out of its context. Zlatan basically spoke only about himself before the game, saying that people can’t understand his jokes. Monster ego. Of course it’s a one man show…

    1. But seriously you guys can’t be satisfied, on this same platform someone accused ibra of not being around to talk to the media and shield the coach and the team. man came and was ready for all critics y’all still call him a clown.

honestly what do you want? he doesn’t talk you complain
he talks you complain. who is the real clown?

      1. Are you satisfied that he was absent when it mattered, then come back in the middle of a crisis to brag « I’m the boss » then after getting a strong backlash for that attitude he goes « people don’t understand jokes »? That’s some high level of cretinism.

          1. Ibra is true to who he has been. If you didn’t like it as a player, you won’t like it as a director. He was a winner in sports and as a fan, I want him to be successful as a director. Since Milan is owned by a company deeply rooted in sports media, we will continue doing things that other teams do not. The owner sees the growth of the brand through media.

      2. You’re over simplifying. There is definitely some contradiction and confusion in fan rhetoric towards Ibra’s approach to his job, but that’s because there is plenty of contradiction and confusion surrounding that job.

I can’t think of another top club in the world where the most visible figure is an untitled 3rd party consultant. That alone elicits a degree of doubt from every single quarter. If an aspect of his job is indeed to defer attention away from the playing squad, then placing himself so close to the playing squad and then swinging his d**k around like he’s him, is a funny way of doing it.

He’s a self proclaimed arrogant class-clown who has been given a powerful position that he is learning to do as he does it. That’s kind of fair enough, but it doesn’t make it pleasant viewing. It would if it was someone else, but it’s not.

  3. Ibra is the best.
Let him learn his new place outside the field in peace.

Its messed up how “fans” in here bashes him when he is the protagonist of our last two scudettos. No respect at all.

    You are the clowns.

    1. “Let him learn his new place outside the field in peace”

      In peace? Are you serious?

Plenty of respect for Ibra the footballer and Ibra the man. Doesn’t mean I have to agree with the methods of Ibra the 3rd party football consultant . Same applied to Maldini.

      1. What methods? You just talking crap; you dont know what his job is, still you think you have the right to “dont agree with his methods” .. he is a perfect face för Milan and is doing great to advertise Milan as a brand while he is learning his new job.
