MN: Ibrahimovic speaks with Terzic – he is a candidate to replace Fonseca

There continues to be rumblings regarding the idea that AC Milan are preparing for the idea of potentially having to sack Paulo Fonseca, and a report claims that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has met with Edin Terzic.

Last night’s 3-1 defeat against Liverpool has sparked a lot of talk in the media about Fonseca’s position being unsafe, not because of the level of opponent that Milan lost to – given Liverpool are among the best sides in Europe on their day – but rather the manner of the defeat and the fact it continued a bad start.

According to MilanNews, there was a conversation this morning between Ibrahimovic – the Senior Advisor of RedBird for AC Milan – and the entourage of Terzic, who left as the Borussia Dortmund coach at the end of last season.

Terzic’s stock rose when he reached the final of last year’s Champions League before losing against Real Madrid at Wembley, and the meeting today shows he would be among the first options for the Rossoneri management in the event of Fonseca’s dismissal.

Sunday’s derby, in this sense, will be more decisive than ever for Fonseca, a remarkable situation considering it will be just his sixth game in charge and he only began working with the squad in July.

  1. Terzic got Dortmund to a European final, he got Dortmund into a top 2 finish almost every year. He also plays attacking football, the only issue is his defensive record. A lot of last ditch tackling situations.

I would go for Ivan Juric. He has a good defensive record, he always improves the playing style of his team. He can certainly get better performances out of this team.

    1. Since when is finishing 2nd and losing finals something that should be admired and coveted in a club like Milan?

Terzic lost the Bundesliga title on the last matchday playing at home against a team competing for nothing 2 years ago, when they played UCL final they finished 5th in the league. He is basically Bosnian Pioli. Milan needs a winner not an embodiment of mediocrity.

      1. They also need someone willing to take the job at a club in crisis, who won’t pay a manager more than 4M, if that, and won’t spend more than 20M on players. People need to stop fantasizing about Tuchel, or Guardiola, or whatever. Just stop. Besides, there are plenty of managers who have been successful with us without a track record. Sacchi was a shoe salesman, Capello was an assistant, Zaccheroni had zero trophies, even the great Ancelloti had zero trophies or maybe an Italian Cup or something, Allegri had zero trophies, etc. What we need to focus on is their system and how they handle players (egos). Clearly, management did not do their homework with Fonseca because his system is Pioli on steriods (4-2-4 pressing, WTF?) and he’s already losing the locker room.

    2. Terzic is a one job manager that was so underwhelming with Dortmund that even reaching the CL final wasn’t enough to keep his job.

I would go with the more experienced Lucien Favre, he has a much better stats with all the teams he managed and was able to compete and grow his small teams

  2. Is it not too early to be thinking about replacing Fonseca, he got the team to play well against Venezia, he had the right line up and formation , the mistake he did was playing a clearly not fit Calabria, who also should not be in this team, and has anyone noticed Pavlovic looked better with Gabbia as his partner, Timori could shift to the right back position, if the team cannot pick up in the coming games, then a reflection can be made on the coach, but we need someone who understands the environment…

    1. I think you re right.

Terzic Had a lot of struggle in BuLi.

Arne Slot already has klopp-integrated tactics.
Fonseca ist trying to adapt a completely nee System this needs a lot of time.
Sarri also would need a lot of time to adapt His system.

Allegri plays boring football and the Players doesnt fit His system.
      Klopp want a year freetime.

In My opinion the best Coach for milan IS ancelotti.
But He IS already at real.

So my Suggestion ist let Fonseca a bit more time and If ITS doesnt Work tak Tuchel and maybe He win short-time Champions League 🤣

    2. It’s over for Fonseca Usman. He just isn’t the coach for this team , he will not be able to influence the major players.
Pavlovic , who I like by the way, was terrible against Liverpool. They even stopped pressing or marking him as they knew he couldn’t hurt them with his passing. He looked awful and so slow with the ball , the guy needs a lot of improvement with his passing and composure.

    3. This comment sealed everything calabria should leave Milan, while Tomori playing from the central back is shaky he need some time off while will keep playing Gabbia.
Meanwhile I really don’t understand Milan always playing from the back. Our flanks aren’t working at all.

  3. venezia is a serie b team at best they are dead last with only 1 point if it would be a good manager we could have waited cause we know how good they can be but fonseca is a avarage ligue 1 coach at best

  4. Terzic was extremely underwhelming with Dortmund to the point qualifying for the CL final wasn’t enough to keep his job.

On the other hand, Lucien Favre was one of the best managers in Dortmund and every team he managed, and he is available.

  5. I’m not in favour of changing the coach at the moment, Fonseca should remain at helm at least till Laverkusen game to see that the team could adapt to play fast momentum game or not because transition need time and any new coach won’t able to do wonders to this team until he just make the team to sit deep and depend on individual brilliance in the offence.

  6. The best coach Milan can get at the moment (if he agrees to take the job at Milan) is Tuchel. But I doubt Milan’s managment are willing to pay the salary of a high quality coach.

  7. When will you ibra admit that fans were right that chosing fonseca was wrong, and you and the menagement were wrong once again, are you ashame that fans know milan and football better than you proffesionals? And now you will dig urself and milan even more by chosing cheap low coach again

  8. for everyone who is impressed by Terzics record. Rose built a strong team in Dortmund finishing 2nd in 21/22 and after Terzics (who was at that time having a nonsense position in the club) intrigues he was sacked with Terzic taking over. yes, Terzic was again finishing 2nd, but that was based on what Rose built and the team was not even listening much to Terzic. the year after Hummels even admitted that they dont care much about what Terzic said and by continuing what they learned from Rose they got to the ChampionsLeague final. i’d prefer even playing without a coach before having Terzic who will detroy the team.

  9. Tuchel is the worst no tactic no game plan same like gattuso him and gattuso tell their players chase the ball I’m 38 years old i never saw an awful coach than tuchel

    1. Tuchel is constantly losing the dressing rooms. He has the same story at every club. Inherits a team full of quality players and does good for about a year, then starts to struggle, then turns on the players and all goes to shit, happens every time. Plus he always runs 3-5-2 and Milan don’t have the players for that, who would play wingbacks. Also there are already some players on this Milan team that have already had a falling out with Tuchel. Plus he wouldn’t be inheriting a team full of quality players like he usually does, we have maybe 5-6 quality players. His last job he did not do good at, he lost the Bundesliga with Bayern for the first time in 9 years and also was constantly having dressing room problems with the senior players. Tuchel would be a huge mistake, he would be the last manager i want to replace Fonseca. I do like the idea of putting Tomori at RB and puttin Gabbia and Pavlovic as the CB’s. I really hope he tries that vs inter, it might solve a lot of the defensive problems then maybe the midfield will feel more comfortable to actually try and progress the ball to the attack.

  10. I’m not sure how much better this team will play under a different coach. (Never liked fonseca btw, midtable coach.) The quality is just simply not there, especially in the midfield. Hope I’m wrong. Time will tell.

  11. This proves 100% that milan management, including ibra, have no idea what they are doing… no plan… no strategy… no nothing… hopefully a new buyer with some vision presents himself/herself
