MN: Ibrahimovic not rushing and recovering in peace as Giroud offers all the right guarantees

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic does not feel pressure to be back in time for AC Milan’s first game of the season later this month, according to a report.

As MilanNews reports, the Swede is recovering after his knee surgery and is at work to try and be available for the season opening fixture against Sampdoria on August 23, but he does not feel like he must return for the trip to Genoa at all costs because of the reassuring presence of Olivier Giroud.

The Frenchman started his adventure at Milan in the best possible way as he scored with his first touch in the 1-1 friendly draw against OGC Nice. Giroud can be a very useful alternative to Ibrahimovic, and after a week of training at Milanello the management and the coach are fully satisfied with how the former Chelsea striker is doing.

He will be presented to the media today and could start Wednesday’s friendly against Valencia. Meanwhile, it is unlikely that Ibrahimovic will be 100% against Sampdoria so he could start that game from the bench, able to rest assured that his deputy will not leave Milan short-handed.
