MN: Investcorp vs. RedBird battle ensues – why Milan are the ‘top European club’ to invest in

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are the subject of a bidding war from Investcorp and RedBird capital, leaving Elliott Management with a decision to make.

As MilanNews report, fact that the American fund RedBird have made an official offer to Elliott Management for the purchase of Milan should not surprise the fans or even experts who are in tune with the current situation.

The reason is as simple: Milan are the ‘top European club’ most easily growable from a potential new ownership. The work done by Elliott in these four years is there for all to see and Milan – compared to the teams in the Premier League – have a ‘decidedly lower purchase cost’ than Premier League clubs for example.

It goes to show that the path embarked on by Elliott during their time in charge has eventually born fruit, because they wanted to reduce costs to a sensible level while growing the playing squad. Not only that, but they have cleared all the relative debt and the revenue to playing squad cost ratio is among the best in Italy.

  1. Yeah at the cost of 2 scudetto! If Elliott were not so stingy and bought us some quality RW and AMC we would easily get scudetto last year and this year too. Still much better than the Chinese owners.
