MN: Jovic suspension could lead to Europa League start against Rennes

Luka Jovic’s red card against Monza in Serie A may have bagged him a start against Stade Rennes in the Europa League on Thursday night.

As reported by Milan News, Stefano Pioli may give the Serbian striker a start against the French side so that Olivier Giroud is in the best condition to face Atalanta in Serie A at the weekend.

The clash with Atalanta promises to be a really tough game, especially given they have been the Rossoneri twice already this season in the league and the Coppa Italia.

If Milan are able to win the game, it would be a huge step towards securing Champions League football. Jovic is not going to be eligible for that game after he was sent off against Monza for lashing out at Armando Izzo.

Giroud is going to have to start against La Dea, so Jovic may get to play the majority of the match against Rennes. Milan won the first leg 3-0 so they are all-but through to the next round.

Despite that, Milan are expected to be fielding strong teams in this tournament given there is no hope of winning the Serie A title now given the gap could soon be 14 points between them and Inter.
