MN: Kessie called up for international duty by Ivory Coast but midfielder will not report

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie has been surprisingly called up by his national team the Ivory Coast ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

As MilanNews reports, Kessie has been summoned for the matches against Mozambique and Cameroon as the Ivorians look to secure qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. However, the 24-year-old will not report for international duty as he is still recovering from a muscle problem he suffered in training earlier this month.

That is why he will snub the call of his national team and will remain at Milanello where his individual programme will continue in view of a return after the international break.

Given that the first three games after the break are against Lazio at home, Liverpool away in the Champions League and Juventus away , it is certainly a priority to get the former Atalanta man back fighting fit to bolster the midfield depth.

  1. I’m still baffled wy we dont sell or extend contract for Kessie and Romagnoli.
Is Milan target to lose 2 player for free / year ?

  2. Now that Adli is in the bag. Talk to Kessie figure out where he wants to go and how to get him there. Milan should cash in. Hate to see him leave but it’s clear Milan cannot afford the 8,5 million a year to keep him. Resign and sell.
