MN: Kessie not at risk of being benched as ‘everyone hopes’ renewal can still happen

The issue that continues to occupy the front pages with regards to AC Milan is undoubtedly the situation surrounding Franck Kessie and his renewal.

As Antonio Vitiello writes in his latest column for MilanNews, many fans have asked for Stefano Pioli to bench Kessie until he signs a renewal, otherwise it will be a complicated year for the Ivorian with protests and whistles expected at the stadium.

However, what filters from the club is that Pioli will always choose Kessie as long as he is available to the club and as long as the player is being paid by the Rossoneri, he will be deemed fully available for selection.

Pioli hopes that he will get the 2020-21 Kessie back as he was a player who clearly contributed to the return of Milan to return to the Champions League after seven years. However, Kessie will have to respect the promise made during the Olympics when he declared: “I’ll go back to Milan and fix everything. I want to stay for life.”

The signing has not yet come, but ‘everyone hopes it can still happen in the next few weeks’ as per Vitiello. The economic distance is there, so the player must honour his word and take a step towards the club.
