MN: Kjaer ruled out of Milan’s trip to Genoa due to muscle strain

By Euan Burns -

Danish defender Simon Kjaer has been ruled out of AC Milan’s match against Genoa this evening due to a muscle strain, a report claims.

As has been reported by MilanNews’ Antonio Vitiello, Kjaer will play no rule for the Rossoneri in Liguria on Saturday night. Stefano Pioli decide to leave out the Dane as a precaution.

Kjaer was not expected to start the game regardless due to the availability of both Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw who Pioli favours, but he is a valuable option from the bench given Pierre Kalulu is also not available.

Kjaer becomes one of a handful of Milan players who are injured and will play no part against Genoa, joining Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ismael Bennacer, Kalulu, Rade Krunic and Mattia Caldara.

Pioli will be hoping that neither Tomori nor Thiaw pick up an injury against Genoa, as there is no natural centre-back to bring off of the bench now. The likes of Tijjani Reijnders or Tommaso Pobega could be called upon if needed.

  1. Yikes this defensive situation is getting serious!
    2 fit centre halves!

It still baffles me as to how e signed 11 players in the summer (a full team numerically) and yet we are short a centre back, a DM, a Striker and back up LB (though I like Bartesaghi)

    1. because we had so many other positions in need or have you been living under a rock? Have you also missed how much depth there is in attack and midfield now compared to last season?

But nooo always latch onto ‘omg why dont we spend another 100m on players’

      1. No I think we signed a lot of players, which is always a concern. As I said it’s just amazing anomaly to sign 11 players and have holes in the squad.

        When planning a transfer season,
        1. Fill the holes in the starting 11
        2. Fill the holes in the back up 11
        simples

We signed 3 players for RW

        1. its not amazing, look at last 2 years worth of windows, we rarely made additions to depth

we kept losing players on a free and replacing them instead of adding depth, that sort of managing the market catches up to you

also not sure why you think Milan of all clubs can plug every single hole in the squad in one window, we arent corrupt Oil club
