Rade Krunic’s time at AC Milan is entering its last few months or potentially even weeks, as the midfield looks more and more likely to depart the club.
MilanNews reports that Krunic’s adventure with the Rossoneri now ‘seems to be at the end credits’, which is a remarkable transformation given that he had a central role in the project a few months ago.
Fenerbahce tried to sign him in the summer and offered him a lucrative contract worth €3m net per season. The Turkish club remain interested in signing him, and are willing to offer a salary that Milan do not want to match with a possible renewal.
Given we are now a year and a half from the deadline, with a clear gaps between offer and demand for a contract extension, a sale seems to be the obvious solution. However, Milan expect a serious offer from the Fenerbahce which is lower than the €12-13m but still fair value.
While waiting for Ismael Bennacer’s return, Krunic was used at the start of the season as the defensive midfielder in a 4-3-3 system. During his time at Milan he has played many roles under Stefano Pioli from false nine to right-back, but to be an established starter out of position was a big leap.
In his first outings he did well acting as a screen in front of the defence. His performance continued between fair and good, until a muscle injury at the end of September. After returning at the end of October, it was clear and obvious that he had lost his spark.
He ended up near the bottom of the midfield hierarchies, and against Frosinone on Saturday he did not even even warm up. There have been no fall-outs, but Krunic’s Milan adventure is sliding towards a January ending.
