MN: Lille could miss out on Leao money if Sporting CP fine situation not resolved

By Euan Burns -

It is in the best interest of Lille to pay the fine that they owe to Sporting CP because they risk losing more money if they do not, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News, the French club are currently taking the case to every court possible to try and make sure they do not have to pay Sporting any money for the way they signed Leao before he came to AC Milan.

The issue with that is the fact Leao’s agent, Jorge Mendes is keen to let Leao’s contract with Milan expire so that he can leave to join a new club for free in 2024.

If Lille pay the fine and take that issue away from Milan’s contract negotiations, it is much more likely that Leao will sign an extension.

Lille should want him to extend as they will get 15% of any money Milan make by selling Leao. If he leaves on a free transfer, Lille will get nothing.

  1. This article again. Do you think lille are stupid pay 20m euro and hoping AC Milan sell leao 200m euro so they can get 30m euro ? AC Milan in history never sell player more than 40m euro

    1. No, the point is the likelihood of them having to pay the fine either way makes it a time sensitive decision for them to recoup anything.

They’re not in the situation of paying 20m euro in the hopes of breaking even or making a profit. It’s about either getting nothing in return or something in return at the end of all of this.

For the record, it is the same article again and sort of tedious, but clearly not everyone gets it yet as you demonstrated.

    2. “AC Milan in history never sell player more than 40m euro”

Did we not sell Kaka, for €80m? Atleast get your, facts right..

    3. you started supporting Milan last year when they won the scudetto, that’s why you know nothing about Milan transfer kaka, shevchenko, were sold for 800k right. some people see it that it is a must they comment but saying trash. I rest my case

      1. Shevchenko was sold for €43,875,000 and kaká was sold for sold for €67,000,000….

        I guess that’s close to 800k… maybe?
