MN: Maignan close to extending Milan contract – the details and figures

AC Milan are getting close to finding an agreement with goalkeeper Mike Maignan over the renewal of his contract, according to a report.

Maignan joined Milan in the summer of 2021 on a five-year deal from Lille and in his time at the club he has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Given that his deal runs out at the end of next season, a renewal is needed with a pay rise to reflect his elite status in his role.

According to what is being reported by Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews, Maignan’s contract renewal with Milan ‘is approaching’. There was ‘constructive and positive dialogue’ in the recent talks that Milan has had with the French goalkeeper’s entourage.

Indeed, the parties are moving towards a ‘significant increase in salary’ from the current €2.8m per year, which will break the €5m net per season marker. It is expected that the France No.1 will extend the deadline by a couple of years, therefore until June 2028.

It is certainly good news given that there were times during the past couple of summers where it seemed as though a sale was more likely than a contract extension both due to Maignan’s performances but also his reported demands and the level of interested clubs.

      1. It’s what happens when you play 17, 18 and 19 year old boys against seasoned professionals in the middle of their career, even if it’s the third division. They need to beef up the squad with a few of those.

      2. I hope for move like inter do, for example contact J. David and make some contract with him until the end of the season. And Tammy … for now he is great but we need wait, it’s only start of the season
