When Mike Maignan was signed this summer he instantly had the difficult task of replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma, but it is a case of so far so good.
As MilanNews reports, the turbulent farewell of Donnarumma accelerated the Frenchman’s arrival at Milan and right from the start the fans have embraced Maignan, who arrived from Lille at the end of May.
After his excellent performance against Sampdoria, Maignan himself seems to have already earned the full confidence of the Rossoneri fans who have been all over social media to praise the 25-year-old, especially after the save he made on Gabbiadini’s free-kick.
Now, Donnarumma represents the past because Maignan gives security to the whole department in the present. It no longer feels like there is a big void that has not been replaced, but rather the Milan management, Stefano Pioli and his team-mates can enjoy having a top goalkeeper again, like nothing changed.
