MN: Maignan’s return likely to happen in 7-10 days after phenomenal recovery

Mike Maignan looks set to trim a substantial amount of time off his recovery programme and should be available again soon, a report claims.

The Frenchman had to undergo surgery after a wrist problem he sustained while saving Mo Salah’s penalty at Anfield and it was declared at the time that he would be out for 10 weeks – therefore likely until the end of 2021. MilanNews report that Maignan is now likely to shorten that: his return to the field is approaching and could occur within 7-10 days.

A a video teaser posted on social media in which he announced a countdown was a big sign, and even today he trained with Dida, Ragno and Betti. It is a return that is huge for Milan who have not just lost a leader at the back and a very safe pair of hands but also a playmaker from defence given his superb distribution.

The report hypothesises that he could be back against Sassuolo at the weekend, or against either Genoa or Salernitana if the medical staff choose to risk less. It will depend on Maignan, on how he feels and how Pioli feels too.
