MN: Mandzukic could come off the bench vs. Genoa – his battle begins now

Mario Mandzukic was back in the squad against Parma after recovering from his injury, but he wasn’t used by Stefano Pioli. It could be a different story tomorrow, though, with the No.9 eager to prove himself.

The Croatian international has made just five appearances with the red and black in all competitions, amassing 158 minutes. With just eight games left of the season, he needs all the playing time he can get to convince the Milan management.

As reported by MilanNews, Mandzukic isn’t at his best and he certainly doesn’t have 90 minutes in his legs. However, he could make an appearance off the bench against Genoa tomorrow and thus his uphill battle will begin.

He wants to make a difference for the team and he also wants to earn a renewal, which Milan can trigger if they are happy with his performances. The start has been far from ideal but everything will depend on how he ends the spell.
