MN: Milan all-clear to resume talks over Empoli midfielder after play-off defeat

AC Milan are set to begin talks with Empoli over the possible signing of young midfielder Samuele Ricci, according to a report.

The 19-year-old has made 30 appearances for Empoli this season across all competitions, but Tuesday night will be his last as Chievo knocked the Tuscan side out in the first quarter-final of the Serie B playoffs.

According to MilanNews, Ricci is a player that is ‘being monitored with extreme attention by Milan’ as they look to reinforce their midfield department following the departures of Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura.

Exploratory talks have already been held but the two parties agreed that negotiations would be postponed until after the play-off, but now the clubs will be able to start talking about the teenager once again.

Ricci can play either as a deep-lying midfielder or as a central midfielder as part of a three – the kind of flexibility that is likely to appeal to the club’s management.
