MN: Milan at work to secure renewal of Kessie – the latest offer and the player’s demands

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are attempting to try and extend the contract of Franck Kessie but some work must be done regarding his salary, a report claims.

According to the latest from MilanNews, the management have every intention of retaining one of the most important players in the squad and extending his deal beyond the current June 2022 deadline. Kessie has grown to become irreplaceable having gone from a difficult start to now being one of the undisputed leaders of the dressing room, and the club would like to satisfy his requests.

Work is underway to extend his contract until 2026 with a salary adjustment. Milan’s current proposal is around €3.5m net per season and it will still take time plus a few more meetings with Kessie’s agent to clear up the differences as the Ivorian asks for around €4.5m net.

His numbers suggest he is well worth a pay rise though, as Kessié is the fifth foreign midfielder in the history of the Rossoneri to have achieved double numbers in Serie A in a single season after Kaká, Leonardo, Nils Liedholm and Gunnar Gren.
