Tuttosport: Milan do not want to lose control of midfielder – loan to Cagliari is increasingly likely

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are open to loaning out young midfielder Tommaso Pobega with one club leading the race to land him, according to a report.

Pobega came back to Milanello following the conclusion of his loan at Spezia with the aim of convincing Milan to give him a second chance. After a positive season with the Ligurian club – with whom he scored 6 goals in 20 league games – he certainly has a case.

He helped Spezia achieve survival, and also helped Italy’s U21 side to the quarter-finals of the European Championships before reporting for preseason on July 8 with the desire to change Pioli’s mind and the club’s too.

As reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews) however, Milan are open to loaning Pobega out and the team most interested in acquiring him are Cagliari. Leonardo Semplici’s team are looking for a flexible midfielder and Pobega appears to be the man chosen, but Milan do not have the will to lose control over the player so it should be a dry loan formula.

  1. Loan him out to Cagliari but include a recall clause in January in case we will be in injury crisis when the African tournament begins in February. If we only have Tonali and Adli available for the double pivot, Pobega would be good for squad rotation

    1. Couldnt agree more and it could also make his development safer from our perspective as they will be fully aware we can just call him back if he isnt getting sufficient minutes, It shouldnt really be a huge issue though as they have marko rog out with a cruciate ligament injury so he should get his chances early on, As much i would like to keep him this season i can also accept a dry loan to a club like cagliari as they has a great cv of getting the best out of young midfielders so hopefully he’ll keep developing. African cup of nations actually starts in early january and ends in early february though.
