MN: Milan encounter their first true must-win game of the season against Porto

By Oliver Fisher -

Tomorrow night against Porto, AC Milan will play their first truly must-win game of the season hoping to prolong their Champions League dream.

MilanNews writes how – despite the good performances against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid – the Rossoneri find themselves on 0 points and that is why Pioli’s players have only one result available if they want to continue to keep alive the hopes of going to the round of 16: victory.

The belief is there that the team can carry their good Serie A form into Europe, and the return of players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic can help. Nonetheless, Franck Kessie is suspended and the absences for Covid and injuries respectively of Theo Hernandez, Brahim Diaz, Mike Maignan and Ante Rebic make it another battle.

Davide Calabria, Ibrahimovic, Rade Krunic and Olivier Giroud are all back in the fold as is Tiemoue Bakayoko, while Pietro Pellegri and Samu Castillejo are not in the squad.

Simon Kjaer and Sandro Tonali – after resting on Saturday against Hellas Verona – will be starters again in defense and in midfield respectively. In case of victory, Milan would regain altitude hoping for a favour from Liverpool against Atletico Madrid.
