MN: Milan fans must get used to Elliott Management’s policy – no big spending like Fininvest

Elliott Management continue to remain committed to cutting the losses that AC Milan make, according to one journalist.

In his latest column for MilanNews, Franco Ordine discussed debate these days is centred around Elliott’s politics and their vision. They have managed to reduce the budget deficit of the last season by 50% to just under €100m, but to make €100m in losses every season is not sustainable.

In the past the Milan fans have become well accustomed to Fininvest who intervened in the market every year, making investments to strengthen the squad, but now they have to get used to another owner and above all to another policy.

The key word is “sustainability” which means that Milan must try not to lose certain figures. The objection from fans is that if the team are not strengthened then deep runs in the Champions League will not arrive and the chance to make more revenue vanishes. Moreover, Ordine writes that the €4m per season salary ceiling is considered not an absolute limit but a rough indication for some members of the squad.
