MN: Milan hit ‘deadlock’ regarding Origi – contract termination not excluded

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were hoping that an offer would have arrived by now for Divock Origi and yet it has not, meaning that a new more drastic solution is being considered.

As MilanNews writes, Origi has returned from his loan spell but he is not a part of Milan’s plans and has not been seen at Milanello since the preseason began. There is an agreement with the club to train privately while waiting for an offer which has not yet arrived.

Milan are waiting to see if things might move in terms of incoming offers for the Belgian, given that during the January transfer window the possibility of a switch to Major League Soccer opened up, but the terms of the transfer window made him stay at Nottingham Forest.

The possibility of a mutual termination between Origi and Milan cannot be excluded, because at present the €4m net per season that the former Liverpool man earns in his contract with the Rossoneri seems to be putting off potential suitors.

Having returned to the Premier League to redeem himself from his first disappointing season with the Rossoneri (1,188 minutes, two goals), he managed to do even worse with Forest (752 minutes with just one goal, in the FA Cup).

  1. Let’s be honest, it makes sense for Origi to hold out on his unrealistically large wage packet (compared to what he’d be offered elsewhere)

Mutual termination means we have to pay off some/most of the wages to him. At that point he’ll take the payoff, then accept more realistic wages from another club.

What a sad waste of space this guy has been.

      1. Is there more dignity in being unused sub for AC Milan, the 2nd most storied club in Europe, than the same salary to maybe start in any other dramatically lesser team? And on top of that, letting go of your negotiated contract which is still worth 8M over 2 years? It’s not about being a whore, it’s about not being silly and thought free like your post.

  2. No-one wants him so what can you do? I think everyone knew it was a mistake, as soon as he signed.
Maybe he could be used as a ball boy in home games, but I don’t think he’d be any good at that either

  3. 4m euro nett that double from his salary in liverpool . Even liverpool dont want to offer him 2m euro nett again to renew him , why you double his salary ??? His contract till 2026 , that was crazy give him 4 years contract 4m euro nett. Just like bakayoko , he will stay till his contract expire to enjoy big salary
