AC Milan look set to return to negotiations with Empoli this summer, a report claims, this time for another talented young midfielder in Samuele Ricci.
As MilanNews notes, the Rossoneri signed Ismael Bennacer from the same club just under a year ago for a fee of €16million, and the Algeria international – who won the AFCON Player of the Tournament shortly before completing his move – has been impressive since arriving.
The axis with Empoli could lead to a new reinforcement for Milan; a player who – despite his very young age of 18 – is playing a season as an absolute protagonist: Samuele Ricci.
After Bennacer’s exit, Ricci took the position of regista in front of the defense of the Tuscan side, playing 21 games in Serie B and one in the Coppa Italia.
Both president Corsi and head coach Muzzi continue to speak highly of the teenager, indicating that he is predestined to play for a big club. Milan, as we now know, will massively rebuild their midfield in the summer keeping only a few elements, primarily Bennacer.
Ricci, in a long-term project dynamic, would be a name to be absolutely taken into consideration. The report notes how he is a technical regista, good with the ball between his feet and almost never in trouble.
His passes often arrive at their destination and errors are very rare: characteristics not common even among decidedly more experienced players. The space is their to grow and improve, even physically, and he could be a viable alternative if Sandro Tonali is unreachable.
