MN: Milan to work on key renewals once the winter window closes

The winter transfer window closes in a few hours, and once the time elapses the AC Milan management will turn their attention towards renewals between now and the summer.

MilanNews confirms that Milan are not expecting any incoming movements today, except for last second opportunities for a central defender, meaning Matteo Gabbia and Filippo Terracciano will be the only additions as things stand.

As often happens at the end of the winter mercato, the time will come to address some of the more pressing contractual situations concerning players within the squad.

Antonio Mirante and Mattia Caldara have contracts expiring at the end of the season and they will be allowed to lapse, meaning they will depart with the former potentially then retiring.

Simon Kjaer is unlikely to renew, but above all the names Olivier Giroud and Luka Jovic stand out. A lot will depend on the Frenchman’s decision on his future, as per the report.

Furthermore, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada will also begin to lay the foundations for the renewals of Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi.

The French duo are on deals which expire in 2026 and they are attracting interest from top clubs, while the Italians are on contracts until 2025.
