MN: Milan to work on renewing star who is ‘too important’ after Chelsea attempt

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will soon begin discussions over the renewal of Mike Maignan with some top European sides having shown interest already this summer, a report claims.

In his latest for MilanNews, Antonio Vitiello reports that Milan will soon have to think about the renewal of Maignan because in the summer the big European teams began to make insistent enquiries. over the Frenchman.

Maignan ended up in Chelsea’s sights but Milan replied that a bid of at least €100m would be needed for them to even consider coming to the negotiating table, such is his importance to the team.

More in-depth discussions will soon begin over extending the deal of the former Lille man, which will of course include a substantial increase in his salary.

This is to reflect the fact that ‘his presence in the team is too important’ as Vitiello writes, with the aim being to secure the 27-year-old – who is now France’s No.1 as well – ahead of possible attempts next year.

  1. We need to do what Real and Barca do, Cement both him and Leao to Milan, ad a 200 million clause and give them pay that is more in line with what Chelsea would do.

They are the back bone of Milan, and same goes for any signings that steps to that level. Our profits will only get better wt this course and rate so they deserve it.

Yonalli was a win win, these two leaving, not aure we are able to replace them. I know Tata is not a good example but last season showed what happens wothout Maignan in his position

    1. Leao, Theo and Maignan cannot be replaced. The compatibility of Leao and Theo cannot be matched. Fulrani should extend Theo till 2029 too. Renewing Theo would be an easy job coz he rejected City for us. All that’s left is Maignan.

    2. Barca is able to put in ridiculous clauses because they pay ridiculously high wages like 20mil per season for Coutinho and 16m for Dembele. We don’t pay high wages so our clauses tend to be smaller.

      1. You’re right. The release clause usually matches the wage in my opinion because it’s a negotiation between the player and the club. If the club is willing to pay, the player will most likely be willing to have a higher release clause.

Sometimes it’s nice to overlook that it’s a mutual negotiation. Also, we have a lot stricter financial restrictions since the Chinese debacle.

  2. Leao/Theo form the best Left Flank in all of world football in my opinion. Maignan is a rock between the sticks. Their vaules should reflect this.

As far as I’m concerned, they all need massive release clauses.
