Leo Duarte wasn’t present at Milanello earlier today for AC Milan’s first training session of the pre-season and there is a very good reason for that. The Brazilian is one step away from Basaksehir permanence, a report claims.
The centre-back was signed by Milan back in the summer of 2018 but it became evident pretty quickly that he wasn’t good enough. Therefore, in January of 2021, the Rossoneri sent him out on an 18-month loan to Turkish side Basaksehir.
According to Antonio Vitiello, after Basaksehir didn’t exercise the buy-out clause, negotiations have been ongoing with Milan to reach an agreement. It seems they have reached one, as Duarte wasn’t present at Milanello today.
#Duarte non c'era stamattina in allenamento a #Milanello e non ci sarà nemmeno nei prossimi giorni perché in fase di definizione la sua cessione al #Basaksehir. In uscita a breve

The transfer is at the final stage and it could soon be made official, as per Vitiello, and Milan will use the money collected to reinforce the team this summer. It remains to be seen which number they settled on for the transfer.
