MN: Milan and Club Atletico Platense agree €3m deal for Pellegrino – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have got another signing across the line as they have reached an agreement with Club Atletico Platense over Marco Pellegrino, reports claim.

According to MilanNews, a deal has been struck between Milan and Platense for Pellegrino’s transfer to the Rossoneri. The Argentine defender – who has an Italian passport – will soon become the new central defender available to Stefano Pioli.

The Diavolo and the Argentine side have found a meeting point at €3m plus bonuses, while Platense will also receive a percentage of the proceeds from a potential future resale.

Now, before Pellegrino’s arrival in Milan, all that remains is to define the last bureaucratic details and then the 21-year-old will become Milan’s ninth signing in the summer transfer window.

Pellegrino will join a defensive department which currently has Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer and Malick Thiaw available, after Matteo Gabbia departed to join Villarreal on a season-long loan deal.

  1. What a steal. A low cost, high potential signing. I have a good feeling about this signing. Of course with any signing it’s a chance, but he has the characteristics.

    1. Just like you said…. Every Signing is a Chance, let’s hope this one turns out to be a bargain for Milan… And not a Signing we will struggle to ship out like Ballo Toure, Origi and Rebic….. Perhaps a deputy too to Theo on the left.

  2. This kid is presumably an upgrade to Gabbia. Hopefully he flourishes here. But what happens next summer when Gabbia is back? Offload him? On top of having to offload Caldara?

    1. Caldara’s contract expires this year. He’ll go free. In some ways the idea is to have them all back. Remember Kjaer is also getting up there in age (even now). So next year, we will have Thiaw, Tomori, Gabbia and Pellegrino. Hopefully Pellegrino adapts and Gabbia gets solid minutes and a good loan. Otherwise, We’d be on the market for a defender next season
