MN: Milan working with Pobega’s entourage to find new club after Torino exclusion

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca made the decision to leave Tommaso Pobega out of the squad for last night’s game against Torino, and his agents are at work to find a new club.

According to MilanNews, the management are at work to reduce the side of Fonseca’s squad, because the goal is to trim things down to a maximum of 25 players available to the Portuguese coach, which obviously means getting rid of some players not deemed part of the plans.

All that remains is to understand who will leave Milanello during the final couple of weeks of the transfer window, even if it is easy to guess based on who was left out of the squad last night, with Yacine Adli and Pierre Kalulu also not called up.

Pobega has worked hard and in silence to try convince Fonseca but the coach decided to focus on other profiles. In light of this, the club and his entourage are working to find the best solution for the Italian midfielder.

Many Italian teams are said to be interested in Pobega and in the past few months there has been talk of Bologna being keen, but a foreign solution should absolutely not be ruled out, also because there are a number of options.

  1. We need 4 homegrown club trained in the squad, how can we fulfill if we sell Pobega ??
We have only Calabria and Gabbia….

    1. I am a firm believer in hitting both quotas (league trained and club trained) but that is with sufficient quality not any old quantity.

Pobega falls in the latter category, he’s a youth product but seems to be the level of a mid-table club. Now that does mean when players of sufficient quality are available we should strive to sign them (eg Buongiorno , Chiesa) for at least hitting the league-trained quota but no point keeping deadwood, with Fofanas arrival we are reasonably well stocked in central midfield

  2. I am sorry to say but that is why Inter will continue dominating us if we keep breaking the potential Italian back-bone we have for foreigners. I am for keeping Italians with potential in the team. Despite the quality gaps, Acerbi, Locatelli, Cristante, Darmian, El Sharaawy, Pessina and recently Colombo (should not have gone on loan) should have stayed because they have gone on to be stalwarts in their teams. Just recently Daniel Maldini and Bellanova contributed to scoring goals against us. I may be a sucker for saying this but we should not have let them go
