According to MilanNews, Marco Sportiello will remain in goal with Mike Maignan not called up as the intention is not to rush his return. Theo Hernandez should return at left-back, allowing the switch back to a 4-3-3 with Alessandro Florenzi, Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori toill complete the rearguard.

In midfield, Rade Krunic’s injury means that a first start of the season should come for Yacine Adli. Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders are expected to flank him.

Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao will rest which gives a chance to a revolutionised attacking trio made up of entirely new signings: Christian Pulisic on the left, Samuel Chukwueze on the right and Noah Okafor up front.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Sportiello; Florenzi, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo; Loftus-Cheek, Adli, Reijnders; Pulisic, Okafor, Chukwueze.

Bench: Mirante, Nava; Calabria, Pellegrino, Bartesaghi; Pobega, Musah; Giroud, Leao, Romero.
