MN: Milan listened to Sala’s San Siro proposal – what filters from the meeting

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Inter’s CEOs Paolo Scaroni and Alessandro Antonello were guests of Mayor Beppe Sala at the City Hall this morning to discuss the stadium theme.

As MilanNews confirms, the Mayor called the two clubs to talk though the San Siro renovation project, proposed by the Arco Associati studio and getting public feasibility backing from the construction group WeBuild.

That plan was drawn up and designed to try to convince the Rossoneri and Nerazzurri to stay in Milano and not move somewhere else, and some signs have filtered after the discussion that took place this morning.

The meeting lasted about half an hour and upon leaving neither Scaroni nor Antonello made any statement. AC Milan arrived at the City Hall today with the idea of listening to the project, but it seems to be a case of too little too late.

The feeling is that something must be put forward that is sensational and advantageous for both clubs in order to get them to change their mind, but this scenario does not seem feasible.

Instead, the Rossoneri are proceeding quickly towards building a new home in San Donato, their own and and not shared contrary to recent reports.

The land in the former San Francesco area has already been purchased for a sum close to €40m and the public debate process has also been launched in the presence of Mayor Squeri.

Milan have no intention of stopping now that the gears seems to have started turning. The club’s goal is to play their first match there between 2028 and 2029.
