MN: Milan have three different ways of reinforcing the centre-back position

AC Milan have three options for their defence this summer mercato, currently in need of a centre-back to replace the exit-bound Alessio Romagnoli. Everyone knows Sven Botman and Gleison Bremer at this point, but there is more.

Botman has been the Rossoneri’s primary target for several months, as MilanNews report, but they are struggling with the fierce competition of Newcastle. Bremer’s candidacy has thus increased in importance, but even for him it’s not an easy operation.

Therefore, the third and until his point unmentioned solution is to sign a young and talented centre-back. Botman is both young and talented, but he’s a high-profile name and that’s not what this third option is after.

Before they signed Fikayo Tomori in 2021, Milan tried hard to secure the services of Mohamed Simakan and it would be a similar operation now. In other words, a rather unknown player but one filled with talent, and available at a reasonable price.

This solution cannot be ruled out for the Rossoneri and it remains to be seen what decision Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will make.
