MN: Milan given big injury boost as Tomori, Kalulu and Calabria train with group

By Oliver Fisher -

Some very good news has arrived from Milanello regarding the condition of three defenders in view of the important upcoming games in the league.

As MilanNews reports, Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu did training with the rest of the squad this morning after doing so on Wednesday before the team left for France ahead of their second leg against Rennes.

Davide Calabria, who suffered a muscle injury in the Serie A match against Napoli on February 11th, also returned to group training.

The next league game is of course against Atalanta on Sunday at 20:45 CET at San Siro. There is still tomorrow’s final session to make a decision on the trio, therefore.

Based on how that session goes, Stefano Pioli will decide whether or not to call them up for the match against the Bergamo team.

It is great news for Pioli because Milan are in dire need of help defensively. The last two matches against Monza and Rennes saw the Rossoneri concede seven goals, which is an unsustainable level of permeability.

Having Kalulu and Tomori back in addition to Malick Thiaw will give Pioli more options in the centre-back position, allowing rest for players like Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia who have played a lot recently.

  1. Finally.

I hope Tomori can play soon because Milan really need his fast pace in the back. Currently none of Gabbia, Kjaer, or Thiaw are as fast as Tomori.
