MN: Milan top the Serie A table for dismissals – the potential issues it unveils

Being at the top of the table is commonly something to be proud of, but this cannot be said for AC Milan, given they have received the most dismissals this season, a report has revealed.

As MilanNews writes, this season Milan have been given eight red cards, the most of any Serie A side. The divide is six straight red cards and two due to multiple bookings, but given the Rossoneri have an average yellow card record (76 in 37 games), it is confusing why the side have received so many.

In terms of player rankings, Davide Calabria has earned two red cards (the most for the club and in Serie A), and both came in vital games, where the captain must do better, and the circumstances of both have caused annoyance.

Theo Hernandez, Olivier Giroud, Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, Luka Jovic and Mike Maignan all have been given one red card.

The question that arises from this is how Milan have so many dismissals from so few yellow cards, perhaps rash challenges, or perhaps, it is a lack of composure in moments. However, what cannot be questioned is that this must be lessened next season.

There have been several occasions where the squad have struggled with depth, and the Rossoneri must ensure they have enough coverage consistently, and a large part of this is ensuring that the total of red cards is lessened.
