MN: Milan attentive as De Zerbi’s time at Brighton heads for ‘natural conclusion’

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are keeping a close eye on Roberto De Zerbi’s situation at Brighton as he could be getting closer and closer to a departure from the Premier League side.

As reported by Milan News, the landscape is changing for De Zerbi at Brighton compared to earlier in the season. After a great first year and a strong start to this season, the Italian coach was being linked with jobs such as Liverpool and Barcelona.

The Seagulls have gotten worse and worse as the season has progressed, though, which means it could suit all parties if he were to depart in the summer. The main issue is that he has a €13m release clause that would need to be negotiated.

De Zerbi is a product of the Milan youth system and holds the club very dear in his heart, having said in the recent past: “It’s not a normal club for me, I grew up with the Rossoneri. I will be grateful to Milan for my whole life.”

Whilst De Zerbi is an option, a host of other coaches like Thiago Motta, Paulo Fonseca, Sergio Conceicao and more have also been linked and Milan do not look close to honing in on a favoured candidate.

        1. Again, all the rumors and conjecture. I just read that Chelsea is interested in Motta to replace Pocchetino. 🤷‍♂️

  1. I still think Van Bommel would be a better Coach than De Zerbi, right now, at this point in time, and the way football is evolving, we need a European Coach, their is a certain lack of bravery or innovation about Italian coaches that hinders them, it’s not only the domestic angle we should look at, we need to think of the UCL, and Van Bommel has tonnes of experience in big leagues, and he knows what it is to win.

  2. Interest! Interest!! Interest!!! Milan is interested in everyone and will never make a move.

Is this the case or these bloggers are just trying to always have something for people to read..?

Interested in Mott’s, Juve reach (at least) a verbal agreement.
Interested in De Zerbi, Bayern will swoop him.
Who else Klopp? I’ll tell you the club to swoop him.

  3. Was Guardiola or Capello big Coaches when the brought success to Barca and Milan at the beginning of their careers….???
Knowing a club, the environment counts a lot when appointing a Coach, the club is right at this point in time giving preference to a foreign Coach, Italian coaches right are timid, and so not fully embrace the trend of the way European football is played, we need a Coach with serie’ a experience, has won in Serie’ a, and other leagues, and is willing to work with a shoe string budget, and is used to using young players, in terms of football experience, Van Bommel is better than DeZerbi, their is a particular reason why the management want a foreign coach…
