MN: Milan unlikely to hire Comolli as Cardinale has strong faith in current management

Toulouse president Damien Comolli has been linked with a role at AC Milan in recent days and given the ties with RedBird, this is not exactly surprising. However, as a report claims, he’s no longer a prime candidate for the Rossoneri.

Comolli has done a very good job for Toulouse since he was appointed president by RedBird in 2020, when the American firm took over the French side. Naturally, with Gerry Cardinale shifting more and more attention to Milan, the 51-year-old has been linked with a position at the club.

However, as reported by MilanNews earlier today, Comolli is no longer a hot candidate for the Rossoneri. While a move was significantly more likely during the winter months, Cardinale is now very pleased with the current management and doesn’t want to shake things up too much.

Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio have worked really well together and the entrance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic hasn’t caused any controversy. If anything, the Swede has integrated perfectly with the group and a great foundation is thus in place.

Furthermore, as the report concludes, Comolli doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to working for bigger clubs. He’s also very ‘data-driven’, which could clash with current philosophies at Milan given that a great balance has been established already.
