AC Milan are soon expected to begin work on the renewal of Mike Maignan’s contract given his status as one of the world’s elite goalkeepers, a report claims.
There is no doubting that Maignan has become absolutely crucial to Milan since his arrival in the summer of 2021 as the replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma as he continues to not only make vital saves but also show his ability in leading the defence and building out from the back.
According to the latest from Pietro Mazzara in his column for MilanNews, Milan believe that they have the best goalkeeper in the world on their hands and that is why they are thinking about a contract extension ahead of time.
The current thinking is to offer him a deal worth €5m net per season, with the deal to deposited after 1 July to bring the deadline to 30 June 2028. It would be a sizeable pay rise, but one that nobody would argue that he has earned.
