MN: Milan without Calhanoglu in two consecutive games – first time since 2018

By Isak Möller -

Milan suffered a heavy defeat against Atalanta last night after failing to live up to their usual standard. In other words, they have themselves to blame although a few key players were missing from the squad.

Hakan Calhanoglu was one of the players missing, still COVID-19 positive and currently in isolation at home. The No.10’s creativity was certainly missed on the pitch as Milan barely created any chances throughout the game, which he does so well.

He also missed the game against Cagliari on Monday, but then Brahim Diaz stepped up and put in a good performance. As highlighted by MilanNews.it, it’s not often that the Rossoneri have to be without Calhanoglu for this long.

In fact, the Turk hadn’t missed two consecutive league games since April 2018 prior to yesterday. Back then, he remained on the bench against Torino and then was unavailable for the ugly loss against Benevento. A notable absence, therefore.
