MN: Milan working with confidence on four more renewals after Saelemaekers and Kjaer

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management are pushing ahead on the renewal front and are confident of announcing the extensions of four more crucial figures, it is claimed.

There was some surprise when the extension of Alexis Saelemaekers’ contract until 2026 was confirmed recently given the lack of rumours in the media suggesting it was imminent, and yesterday the renewal of centre-back Simon Kjaer until 2024 was also confirmed.

According to the latest from MilanNews journalist Antonio Vitiello, Milan are continuing with their new strategy regarding renewals. After Saelemaekers and Kjaer, the extensions of head coach Stefano Pioli, midfielder Ismael Bennacer, full-back Theo Hernandez and winger Rafael Leao are scheduled for negotiations.

He adds that the ‘extensions are to be signed in the coming weeks’ implying there is a great deal of confidence. There is no mention of Alessio Romagnoli or Franck Kessie, but it certainly a change in tactic after the departures of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu on free transfers.
