MN: Milan’s probable starting XI for Valencia friendly – Giroud to start in strong XI

Some team news has emerged as AC Milan get ready for another important friendly match, this time against Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium.

Starting with the defence, MilanNews report that Stefano Pioli is expected to stick with the same back four that started Saturday’s 1-1 draw against OGC Nice, with Mike Maignan in net protected by Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Alessio Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez from right to left.

Given Ismael Bennacer has Covid, a double pivot of Sandro Tonali and Tommaso Pobega should start again, with an attacking trident ahead of them consisting of Alexis Saelemaekers on the right wing, Brahim Diaz as the playmaker and either Rafael Leao or Rade Krunic on the left flank.

Olivier Giroud is likely to make his first start for Milan too, having come on after an hour of action against Nice, scoring with his first touch.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Pobega; Saelmaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao (Krunic); Giroud.
