MN: Moncada pushes Milan to sign Valencia midfielder as negotiations begin

By Isak Möller -

After securing the services of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Milan are now looking for one or two more midfielders to bolster the squad. According to a report, Geoffrey Moncada has told the Rossoneri to sign Yunus Musah.

Moncada works as the chief scout for Milan and was recently given greater responsibility amid the departure of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. Giorgio Furlani, as the CEO, is the one dealing with the negotiations.

According to Anto Vitiello of MilanNews, Monacada has told his colleague to focus on Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah. The 20-year-old has an Italian passport and he could join the Rossoneri, should the negotiations go well.

Valencia are in need of money and could thus grant Milan a discount, making the deal feasible. Talks have begun with the Spanish side and it remains to be seen if the parties can reach an agreement. Musah is not the only midfielder on the wish list, though.

  1. Musah is a better player that loftus butt cheeks!! Butt cheek is a 15mil waste!! Milan could’ve done so much more with that money!! They could have loan some players for the midfield such a waste!!

    1. I’ve noticed Milan is following a bunch of US players this season. And the only one I would like to sign Balogun, isn’t talked about anymore…

      1. Could we even sign him if we sign RLC and Kamada? On non-EU player rules?

Personally, would have liked to have seen Tim Weah, seeing as he’s a right wing, cheap and… well, the fans would have been on his side!

        1. Regarding Balogun, seems like the answer would be no. He could have played for the USA, England, or Nigeria as a Brooklyn-born, London-raised kid with Nigerian parents.

        2. Mama da is working on EU passport.. having stayed in Germany long enough.
They want him to get that EU passport to help them sign the Turkish teenager or Chukwueze

          1. Article 11 of the Japan nationality law states:

“If a Japanese citizen acquires the nationality of a foreign country of their own choice, that Japanese citizen loses Japanese nationality.”

      2. They are marketable and would increase the interest in the club stateside. He’s not a bad player – I’ve seen him play with the National team. Better than Pobega.

        1. @ACM1899 he’s not a bad player at all, actually I prefer him in the medium term to RLC.

Does anyone know the answer to the non-EU quota? With Musah+ RLC does that preclude signing Kamada? Milan management a joke recently

          1. transfermarkt might be wrong but according to that site he has dual Citizenship in english/american and is born in usa so its seems like an error in the article.

          2. “ Yunus Musah already had US citizenship due to his birth and also Ghanaian citizenship due to his parents having been citizens of Ghana. Musah also received Italian and British citizenship due to his stay in those countries.

Musah had the option of playing for either of the four countries at the international level.”

          3. Yep sorry guys I just don’t trust the articles here it’s translated from unreliable sources. Most of the rumours and facts seem to be untrue.

Was travelling and airport WiFi not great and didn’t have good but sounds like some of you are pretty confident he won’t take non-EU spot.

Which is good as we might still be able to nab Villareals flying winger.

  2. Wonderful and ambitious criteria for ACM: young and with a discount.

    ACM is back on track….

    Irony might be used.

    #cardinaleout. No irony in that.

    1. You are a joke, wait till the season starts they will be benchwarmers the lot of them 🙂

      oh i forgot #cardinaleout 🙂

  3. I don’t think there’s much hope of any ‘discount’ because the minute he looks like a good deal then other clubs will just get involved in bidding anyway.

But could be just the sort of signing we’re looking for so fingers crossed there’s something in this one.

Especially he’s probably the closest to Italian we might sign this off season!

    1. They face so much competition for Loftus-Cheek clubs were lining up to secure his signature it’s a nor brainer Furlani and Moncada are god when it comes to transfer 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. Musa is not better than Pobega. Athletic, decent IQ but practically zero presence and or danger in front of the goal. Pobega gets in situations in front of the goal just needs to work on the final product. Musa is definitely an upgrade from Bakayoko.

    1. Pobega’s problem is he just isn’t athletic enough. He has skill offensively but he is just too slow. He’s always late on challenges, a yellow card waiting to happen. Musah could be that physical presence that Kessie was.

      1. Pobega’s problem is he’s a terrible player with little to no IQ. He’s a red card waiting to happen and the only reason he’s on the team is squad registration rules…

        1. Please read the past several comments and you’ll all see how embarrassing this is… we’re debating who’s better between musah, Pobega and Bakayoko?? How far we’ve fallen..

I can’t believe we sold tonali for musah and RLC…..

          1. That’s because you think that Tonali was some great player. He’s not. Our midfield was our weakness last season and Tonali was a big part of that.

      2. Pobega is very phisical. Him being late for chalenges has nothing to do with his physicality. The problem is that he is just not a defensive player. He played as AM and even RW. Then Pioli starts playing him as a DM, of course he will struggle.

  5. Amrabat, SMS and Frattesi. Those three would ease my pain of sacking Maldini and selling Tonali. And since it’ll never happen, up yours Cardinale!

    1. You have 0.01% chance of that happening the super scout and the negotiating expert Furlani deemed the operation to easy as there are way too many clubs knocking on those doors, so they decided to break down the wide shut and locked Loftus-Cheek door to prove their skills :)))

  6. Seeing the did not sell enough shirts in europe they are trying to sell shirts stateside, hoping they will increase their sales, but lets face it who in the world would want Pulisic or Musah on their back :)))

Genius that is cardinale perhaps 🙂 🙂

        1. he can buy as many players as he wants to but he wont be able to fill that void and he wont wont be able to mend anything in regard of the fans.

  7. So the thinking is that Tonali profits went to RLC and Musah?… wow.. what an embarrassment of a club. This will worsen our team and we lost a lifelong milanista who loves the red and black. This is literally a disaster. #cardinaleout

  8. Lame ass management, signing lame ass players, and turning Milan into a lame ass team once again.
    Predictions for the season:
    Lose all pre-season games
    Serie A – 10th
Coppa Italia – Round of 16 exit
Champions League – 4th/group stage exit
Why I keep supporting this lame ass team? I don’t know. All they do is torture you.

  9. AC Milan are only interested in players if they are teenagers and free.

No plan, no strategy, no direction, no competencies in the non-existing sporting-management.

    #cardinaleout.
