MN: Morata worsened previous issue by playing in Milan-Torino – the background

Some rather worrying news arrived late last night regarding Alvaro Morata, who is set to miss at least three weeks due to a muscle problem.

According to the latest from MilanNews, Morata will miss the next two league games against Parma and Lazio and will not be available for Spain, who play Serbia and Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League during the next break.

As a reminder, Morata has a one-game ban to serve for his national team which will come into effect from the next game that he is eligible to play after a controversial chant about Gibraltar following the European Championship win.

The report adds that Morata did not initially get injured during Milan-Torino on Saturday, but the day before in training at Milanello. However, the Spaniard deemed it to be a minor muscle problem, so he gritted his teeth and made himself available to Paulo Fonseca for the match against the Granata.

He came on in the second half of that game and scored a goal on his competitive debut, yet the injury worsened and so he will be forced to stay out for at least three weeks. The goal is to get him back for Milan-Venezia, the first match after the break, but he will not be rushed.

        1. 1) Easier matches.
          2) Theo ready from the 1st minute
          3) Saelemaekers not as LB
          4) Fofana in the middle?
          5) Leaky defense fixed?
          6) Okafor is ready.

          Yeah. It was worth it.

          1. Are they easier? Torino nearly whooped our asßs if it wasn’t for Mike
Theo has become a bit hot and cold. Fofana is not gonna be the plug and play people think he is. Leaky def fixed? I’m 70% certain one of the cbs is gonna get a red card before 5 games are through.
Okafor is ready. Unless he gets injured

      1. Probably shouldn’t have been in the position where we needed to bring him on.

Anyway that’s all in the past.

        Onwards and upwards.

  1. Morata was a great but ideally we need another ST before the window closes. Stick Okafor up front against Parma though and we should be fine.

  2. Thought these injuries were a thing of the past ….. but here we go again!!!!

So why cannot milan set up a medical team that is up to standard? What are we waiting for to replace the current crop of – as the italians say – bidoni???
