MN: One last chance for Leao to redeem a difficult season – any contribution could be huge

By Oliver Fisher -

On Sunday against Atalanta Rafael Leao will have one more chance to make a big contribution this season, and it could be his biggest yet.

As MilanNews writes, Leao has seven goals and six assists in 39 games which are good numbers for a young player still adapting to the league, but also stats that do not fully satisfy fans and the media. Head coach Stefano Pioli asks for even more from the forward and in Bergamo he is expected to give an important response to redeem a season dictated by ups and downs, which is normal when it comes to a young player.

In Bergamo the former Lille star will have a last and very important chance to redeem a not entirely positive season and while he is not certain of a starting spot, he was tried as the striker at Milanello in training today and could be a surprise choice in attack. His technical skills suggest he could make a leap in quality at any moment, and there is no better way to show that than scoring a goal which could be the club’s most important in the last seven years.

The Portuguese is battling with Brahim Diaz for a place on the left side, and with the centre-forward Ante Rebic, who according to the latest updates from Milanello is not in top physical shape. Leao could be the wild card.
