MN: One selection doubt remains ahead of Milan-Lazio – man in form vs. derby motivation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has one selection dilemma to resolve ahead of Sunday’s game against Lazio, and that is the right wing position.

According to MilanNews, a doubt that will remain until a few hours from the start of the match is whether to choose Alexis Saelemaekers or Alessandro Florenzi for the wide right position against Maurizio Sarri’s side, but tomorrow’s final training session should certainly give clues.

A late return from the Belgian national team for Alexis Saelemaekers is what has led the former Roma full-back to being a strong contender for a starting shirt, but Pioli of course does not want to deprive himself of the key player of this team given the balance Saelemaekers offers.

He did get his first goal for Belgium during the break and also an assist though, so he comes into the game in top form, but the more important thing is his physical condition.

Regarding Florenzi, there will be the feel of a derby as he is Romanista, an aspect that should not be underestimated because of the adrenaline that it will bring and the noise of the San Siro crowd. Of course, Pioli has the final say.
