MN: Only injured players at Milanello on Thursday – the latest on their conditions

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan are nearing the end of the defensive crisis as it stands currently, with several players in the pipeline to return within the next few weeks. A report has given some updates as to where they stand.

The January transfer window offered Milan a chance to strengthen their defensive ranks. The opportunity was not taken, though, and the only central defender added to Stefano Pioli’s ranks was Matteo Gabbia. However, he did continually request defensive reinforcements in press conferences.

Perhaps, though, the reason for the requests not being granted could be due to the proximity of some players’ returns.

As MilanNews reports, the Rossoneri squad were offered a rest day on Thursday (today). However, this was not extended for injured players, who have been at Milanello today to continue their recovery work. The list of players is as follows: Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Mattia Caldara, and Tommaso Pobega.

It has been recently reported that Thiaw could return to group training as early as next week, but there will likely be a longer wait until he returns to the pitch to allow him to acclimatise to the workload again.

The returns of Tomori and Kalulu will be towards the end of this month (February), to not rush their recovery and risk any further problems.
