MN: Enquiries arrive for Origi with Milan open to selling – the situation

Divock Origi’s first season at Milan has been a disappointment, and that is why he could leave the club after just one year.

The Belgian has scored only two goals despite having 26 appearances in Serie A, with those coming against Monza and Sassuolo. He has failed to be the alternative to Olivier Giroud that the management hoped he would be, and reflections are underway.

As MilanNews reports, it will be a summer of revolution in the attacking department and Origi could already be one his way out. Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will make their assessments based on the offers that arrive, and now things are starting to move.

He has admirers in the Premier League with West Ham and Aston Villa having asked for information, but there are also other teams keen including some from Turkey.

Origi is contracted to Milan until 30 June 2026 and has a salary of €4m net per season, which is a high figure for such a small return.

  1. If he scored 10 goals in serie a, we would secure one of top 4 spots, and it would be great investment. Now, his salary is too high, and god knows if anyone would risk to buy him.

  2. If West Ham really keen on him and we could somehow convince them to swap for Scamacca, that would be a steal.

    1. For sure. For sure. Doubt that anyone will pay the salary he wants though. I mean… Who would be that stupid?

  3. He will say: “I want to stay and fight for a spot”. Just so he can sit on the bench and make money until 2026.

    1. Assuming we have replacement depth lined up, with Lazetic and/or Arnautovic or even someone else, can’t we just eat the value of the transfer fee required to get him off the books?

      e.g. Club Y comes offering about 5m.

      If the 4m a year becomes an issue, can’t we do something like:

      – 1 year loan for 1m;
      – 1m obligation to buy.

      Perhaps even just extending the loan or even just continue to pay 1m a year.

      The priority isn’t making money from the sale of Origi. It is freeing up 4m p/a. If that is just 3m, as in we are still paying some of his wage, it is probably still worth doing.

  4. I’m exiting for the next season. Baka will not in our team again, he is like be frozen by Pioli and it gives bad influence to the team. Ibra should go too. Milan shouldn’t rely on him again because of his injuries. And I hope Pioli out too. For Origi, I will give him second chance if we qualify for CL

  5. Milan needs more italian players in the team. At least 4-5 good italians in the first choice will do.
    Secondly, the defence should be strengthened and great improvement in the attacking area is also needed.
