MN: Pioli left with limited chances to rotate vs. Venezia but one change is expected

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli cannot make too many changes for Wednesday’s game against Venezia at San Siro due to the injury problems the squad are facing.

MilanNews writes that training resumed today in view of the midweek game against Paolo Zanetti’s Venezia, and Pioli can only make limited choices given that Kjaer, Ibrahimovic, Calabria, Giroud, Bakayoko and Krunic are likely to miss out through injury, with Junior Messias not at 100% either yet.

Franck Kessie – who did not appear in exceptional form in the latest games against Liverpool away and against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium – could catch his breath to make room for Ismael Bennacer alongside Sandro Tonali in the double pivot.

For the rest it is a practically obligatory line-up, but more indications should arrive tomorrow when more will be known about a possible recovery of some injured players like Giroud and Ibrahimovic.

  1. Ballo-Toure and Kalulu should start at Full back.
Gabbia should replace Tomori…to save some minutes off his legs. We should be able to Rotate in those positions.
Maldini and Pellegri should be brought on at 60 Minutes to ease the load on Brahim and Rebic. I would actually use Castillejo to take some minutes off Saelaemakers. He is still getting paid afterall.

    1. completely agree with the overall picture you paint but id prefer us to start florenzi at the right wing and maybe then give castilejo a few minutes late on instead of starting him and that is only to keep him somewhat fit if needed.

    2. I agree Ballo-Toure to start at LB, since Theo himself is not in good form.
Kalulu deserves to start against Venezia.
And if we’re leading at 60 minutes, maybe can sub Diaz out, he needs to be kept fresh during this busy period.

  2. @Micah97 well said but it’s not advisable to make so much changes in a single match I don’t see Gabbia staring yet Tomori is in a good form no need to rest him will changing both winge back as u said and for Saelemaekers he never deserves to be a starter in Milan no effect on field just running up and down with no good marking what his best at is celebrating when we score and Pellegri deserve a start in our next match.

  3. We need more depth period. We cannot play the same players every 3 days – like Diaz, Tomori, Kajer Theo, etc…pls sign Faivre in January. We need a starting RW and a backup to Diaz for this year and the future. When will Messias be fit? Not a great start to Milan career showing up out of shape. Must play Kalulu more and give Gabbia a run too and I agree with others who said to play Toure Wednesday as well as Theo could also use a break. Long season and we already hit with injury bug. Hope Ibra and Giroud can come back soon
