MN: Pioli to rely on Kessie as storm swirls over future – the Ivorian must send a signal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is going to rely on Franck Kessie despite all the rumours that continue to swirl about his future.

MilanNews reports that the Ivorian midfielder returned to training with the rest of the squad at Milanello today and will therefore be fully available for Sunday’s match against Lazio, so it will be up to Pioli to decide whether he is in the best condition to start or whether to keep some continuity in midfield.

Kessie is vital and his quality is not in question, while he has always proved to be an exemplary professional so any allegations about his possible non-commitment to the Rossoneri cause are wide of the mark.

Of course, the words he uttered at the Olympics about a desire to stay are still ringing in the ears of the fans, so it is also up to the player himself to move things forward while rumours persist about his renewal. The distance between supply and demand is there, the suitors are ready to offer him big money, but in the mean time some important games are coming up where he can prove his worth.

      1. What message? They should have renewed or sold last summer. Period. Either way I think it’s still a bit early to banish to the stands. There is still hope. I think you play him until the new year (when he can technically negotiate with other clubs) and if he hasn’t renewed or accepted a move to another club in January then he can go off to the African Nations Cup and then come back and sit in the stands for the rest of the season so Tonali can get all the minutes he can.

  1. What do you mean his conduct has been exemplary? He has lied to us all. He said in Tokyo not to worry and he will sort everything out as he loves Milan… That was 6 weeks ago.
He is a liar like dollarumma and is leaving on a free too
Gadzidis and Maldini need to wake up and stop giving €50 million players away for free. You are signed by mid August or you are sold. Full stop. Tired of amateur hout and greedy rich players.

  2. No way! Weak by Pioli and management. He doesn’t need to send any signal, he either signs or sits. And he’s not exemplary. Gigio was the same if not more professional as this went on for years yet he still played at the top and I still wouldn’t call him exemplary so kessie definitely not. Players today have low class don’t get attached to them guys. Also anyone who kisses the badge etc is just a thing to do now… used to actually mean something. Sad that he’ll bench Tonali who’s finding excellent form for a guy who is likely to not even remain at Milan unless we completely break the bank for him… pathetic and weak.. typical Pioli.

Sign or sit. No in between…

  3. piloi must give punishment with put him on the bench or junior squad.. so everbody will think dont play with our management… we already have good squad to replace him…
