MN: Pobega in last part of rehabilitation process after return to group training

By Oliver Fisher -

When Tommaso Pobega suffered an injury towards the end of last year there were some fears that his season might be over, yet he returned to training today.

It was in late December that Pobega was brought off after less than 30 minutes during the win over Monza at San Siro, and it became obvious that it was more than just a muscle strain.

The club announced that he had undergone an operation – carried out by Surgeon Lasse Lempainen and observed by AC Milan Club doctor Dario Donato – to repair a tendon issue in his hip, with a long recovery process foreseen.

MilanNews have provided updates on the conditions of the centre-back duo Simon Kjaer and Malick Thiaw as well as the goalkeeper Mike Maignan, and a development has also arrived regarding Pobega.

The Italian midfielder worked with the rest of the squad at Milanello today, which is obviously a big step forward in his recovery process.

There are still no pre-defined times for his return to the matchday squad, but it is clear that there is not long left now and we are in the last part of his rehabilitation process.

The next few days and weeks will be aimed at getting Pobega back to full fitness so that he is close to 100% and thus the change to a match rhythm is not as much of a shock.
