MN: Positive indications as Milan show their strength in win against Köln

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan managed to beat FC Köln by two goals to one last night and thus claimed their first win of the pre-season. A positive start for the Rossoneri, who have a wonderful Olivier Giroud brace to thank for it.

As highlighted by MilanNews, the win confirmed just how strong Milan are as a collective. Despite fielding a rather makeshift eleven, with many of their stars missing from the squad, the Rossoneri played to their strengths and thus beat the Germans. The focus on counter-attacks was an example of this.

Stefano Pioli even gave a lot of playing time to the youngsters included in the squad but that didn’t change the game plan at all. Another important indication that the project at the club continues regardless of outside factors, such as the mercato.

For the upcoming friendlies, the manager will welcome back the stars (who got extra vacation due to international duty) and this will be a huge boost. Then, there could also arrive a few reinforcements from the mercato. Regardless of the latter, though, the project continues.

  1. what i learn form vs Koln : Bennacer – Tonali will be irreplaceable if Pobega doesn’t improve. And Bakayoko still doesn’t even good enough for 4th pivot. Maybe even Brescianini can compete better for 4th pivot role.
Bakayoko perfect as DM at 3-men midfield, but not double pivot.

  2. For me, Pobega was quite good yesterday. Even though still need some improvement, his physicality and off the ball works were good. The real problem is LB. Ballo-Toure was very terrible… Theo can’t play every games, Milan desperately need good back up.
