MN: Probable Milan XI to face Bologna – Tomori set for first start; Leao in new role

By Isak Möller -

Following the 2-1 defeat to Inter in the Coppa Italia, Milan will be looking to bounce back with a convincing win against Bologna tomorrow afternoon. It could be the first game of a good streak, looking at the schedule.

The Rossoneri have been handed some good news this week as well, with Ismael Bennacer back in training. Mario Mandzukic and Sandro Tonali both missed the derby with minor injuries, but are also back at full speed.

According to MilanNews, one of three could play from the first minute tomorrow and that is Tonali. Bennacer isn’t quite ready yet and the same goes for Mandzukic, who arrived last week. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see both of the bench, though.

Fikayo Tomori, who came on to replace Simon Kjaer against Inter, is set to make his debut from start tomorrow. Hakan Calhanoglu tested negative for COVID-19 today but still needs a bit of time, thus not included in the squad.

Therefore, in the trequartista role, Stefano Pioli could test Rafael Leao as Brahim Diaz also is struggling with a minor injury. The other option would be Daniel Maldini, but he’s still very inexperienced.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Tomori, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Rafael Leao, Rebic; Ibrahimovic.
